Time in the room
An initial evaluation runs 45 to 60 minutes because that is how long it takes to understand somebody. Follow-ups are never a rubber stamp on a refill.

Face to Face Psychiatry is an independent Cutler Bay practice combining psychiatric care, therapy and family medicine under one licensed provider.
20 years in practice
Mental health care in South Florida has drifted toward volume. Seven-minute appointments. A different face on the screen every quarter. A prescription renewed by someone who has never asked how the last three months actually went.
We built this practice as the opposite of that. Small schedule, same provider every visit, and enough time in the room to get it right. And because that provider is board certified in both psychiatric prescribing and family medicine, your mood, your blood pressure, your weight and your hormones are one conversation instead of four appointments at four different offices that never speak to each other.
See his credentials →Where it started — pre-nursing coursework in the same county this practice now serves.
Clinical nursing training and licensure as a Registered Nurse — the bedside years that shape how every later conversation is conducted.
BSN completion, broadening from direct patient care into assessment, public health and evidence-based practice.
Graduate training in family medicine, followed by national board certification and a Florida license to practice autonomously — diagnosing, ordering labs, and prescribing for primary care without physician co-signature.
Specialist training in psychiatry and psychological practice, leading to State of Florida board certification as a psychiatric prescriber — the license that also permits psychological services alongside prescribing.
The terminal clinical doctorate, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice — treating from what the research actually supports rather than from habit.
"My ideal client is anyone from any walk of life. We are all in this world to make a difference. Some have better opportunities than others, but it does not mean we cannot do anything we put our minds to — with a positive attitude and the motivation to be better every second of the day."
"Twenty years of experience, having worked in three different counties in Florida and twenty-two different psychiatric units. I have seen it all in the realm of psychology and psychiatry. In my current role I run two state teams, for inmates and for state hospital patients. I can treat any mental health disorder, and I can also treat you from a medical perspective, because I am a Family Medicine Prescriber just as I am a Psychiatric Prescriber."
"If you are not accustomed to the telehealth platform, I have an office where we can meet one on one."

You see the same provider every visit. Nobody here inherits your chart cold, and you never start the story over from the beginning.
What the medication does, what it might cost you in side effects, how long before you feel it, and what we do if it doesn't work. Said in plain language, before you start.

A small, quiet practice — not a clinic floor. Private rooms, no crowded waiting area, and a schedule kept deliberately light so appointments start close to on time.

Medication management and therapy work well by video, and it removes the two things that most often end treatment early — the drive and the day off work.
Let me assist you, with a big smile and empathy, to be positive in anything.— Richard Rizo, DNP, APRN, PMHNP, FNP, RN
